Our little youth room is getting a bit
crowded lately! With Jacque back from Sweden, summer winding down, and
several new faces, space is at a premium on Sunday mornings. God is
doing some really neat things in my personal life, and I am probably at
the best place spiritually that I have ever been. That translates into
some really great discussion times with the teens, and every week God is
planting seeds of faith in young hearts that I am sure will bear fruit
for years to come!
I have never been a fan of ‘program’
ministry, where lessons are provided in books with study guides and
discussion questions. The Holy Spirit has done an excellent job of
leading the church for 2000 years, and I try to use HIS program. Each
week I have a scripture or two that God had impressed upon me throughout
the week, and the teens are free to ask any question, make any comment,
or challenge anything said. That leads to wonderful opportunities for
sharing the bedrock of truth that passes the test of time and scrutiny.
Each week the discussions challenge each of us to seriously consider
the Word of God and how to apply it to our lives in order to live a
blessed life with Jesus.
Right now we are in the midst of
discussing how our walk with Christ is not a religious, moral, or
ethical religion with written or unwritten rules and regulations.
Christ died to set us free from all of that! His will for our lives is
that we would all realize how deeply, madly and passionately He loves
us, and desires for us to love Him the same way. If our hearts are His,
then He will instill INSIDE of us the will to do the things that please
and honor Him, and to avoid the things that break His heart. It is my
prayer not only for the youth, but for every believer that we would
discover the freedom and joy that only that close personal relationship
with Jesus can bring.

autumn, and may God’s love be fresh and new for you each day!
